Quitting Smoking With Chantix

2010, new baby, and a smokeless home

I wanted to leave a note to let everyone that reads this blog know that our first son, Isaac, was born earlier this month. Thanks to Chantix, hopefully i will live a long life to see him get married and have children of his own.

I have of course, completely lost count of how many cigarettes i have not smoked, and how many dollars i have saved.... But of course those were all milestones on the grand highway of being an ex smoker.

To all struggling to quit, please keep the faith- its worth it!

3 months, 4 weeks and one day later...

And still not smoking!

Can you guess how many cigarettes that amounts to? Assuming a (modest) smoking rate of 12 death sticks a day, i have not smoked 1,443 cigarettes! That's $263.50!

I know i've been lazy with this blog, but I have to be honest with you guys, both smoking, and quitting is now a thing of the past! Its amazing to think that days go by without me even thinking of a cigarette, let alone craving one!

Every little bit of nausea I had in the process was well worth it. My car stopped smelling like cigarettes about a month and a half ago! I feel totally liberated!

Seven Days at 1mg 2x a Day and Still Queasy

So one of the side effects of this wonder drug is nausea. Honestly its not that bad. I've noticed that my level of nausea directly relates to the types of foods im eating when I take my pill.

im a young guy (28) so I am still in the habit of skipping breakfast. I've found that if I eat a really really ripe banana, the queasy feeling is minimized. This morning however, I had a banana that was barely ripe and got stick to my stomach for the usual 25 minutes.

In the evening, I usually get less queasy when I take my pill, and I do believe this is a result of the fact that my dinners contain more startches than my lunch or breakfast. However this is proving to be a problem as I try to cut some weight and scale back the carbs at night.

Anyone Chantix users out there have any nausea tips?

Chantix Blog

So I've been on Chantix for about 14 days now, and I am very pleased with the drug overall. As a smoker for 13 years (between 11-20+ cigs a day), I haven't had a cigarette in 7 days and am going strong.

However I haven't found any good resources for Chantix users on the web (I could never get my Chantix club id on my prescription box to work!) so I figured I would start this blog.

I hope people actually find this site, and maybe we can share our experiences here.
